"On 30 May, we invite you to join us for a new edition of the “Sunset Encounters” series, entitled “Roots in History”, a programme that explores the stories of families and individuals who put down roots in Uruguay and left a lasting mark on the country's development. The event will feature the participation of the Institute of Genealogical Studies of Uruguay, offering an interdisciplinary perspective on the British presence in Uruguay and its historical legacy. 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm | “Family Stories” Guided Tour A guided walk through the cemetery, visiting the resting places of families from diverse backgrounds who established roots in Uruguay and contributed to its history. Hosts: Prof. Carolina Lazo Arch. Eduardo Montemuiño The tour will be accompanied by Scottish bagpiper Patricia Izuibejeres. 4:10 pm – 5:00 pm | Talk in the Chapel “The British Presence in Uruguay” Its contribution to our culture, religion, commerce, agriculture and sport. Presented by Dr Juan Carlos Luzuriaga of the Institute of Genealogical Studies of Uruguay (IEGU). Gates close: 5:15 pm British Cemetery Montevideo 3868 Av. Gral.
